www.utahengineerscouncil.org 11 UECJOURNAL February 2006 ENGINEERS WEEK CELEBRATING UTAH ENGINEERS Cynthia E. Lee Cynthia E. Lee is the 2005 Fresh Faces of Engineering award winner. Cynthia is currently working on completing her Masters of Science in En- gineering Management Systems. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science inAero- space Engineering from the University of Texas. Ms. Lee most recently worked at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co. (LMAero) as a flight test engineer on the Short Takeoff and Vertical Landing (STOVL) Joint Strike Fighter. Cynthia and one of her colleagues redesigned the multi-variant flight test software program emulat- ing the F/A 22 flight test software to incorporate more ease and a user friendly program in recording data for flight test analysis. While with LMAero she worked with data systems and instrumentation engineers to formulate a complete test database and incorporate instrumentation details enabling her to earn a Lockheed Martin Recognition award. Her most recent work is with ATK Thiokol Inc. in development the of instrumentation, design, safety, and manufacturing engineering to ensure successful motor and missile testing. In addition, Cynthia has proudly served our nation for nine years in the US Army Reserves obtaining several ribbons and an Army Achievement Medal for work done overseas. Cynthia has served as a judge at regional and state science and engineering fairs (Ft. Worth, TX). In the past three years she has volunteered as an industry presenter and leader with the Ft. Worth Expanding Your Horizons Expo in Math and Science, and the Girls Scouts of America in earning their math and sci- ence badges. ■ 2005 Fresh Faces of Engineering Award The Fresh Faces of Engineering is a program that spotlights the outstanding contributions of America’s youngest professional engineers. It is an effort to show- case the exciting new talents that epitomize the dynamic innovations and advancements that are engineering. Nomi- nees must hold an engineering degree, be employed as an engineer for between two and five years, and have been involved in projects that significantly impact public welfare or further professional development and growth.
