By Andy Powell, ITE Utah Chapter Secretary This past year has been very successful for the Institute of Transporta- tion Engineer’s (ITE) Utah Chapter. We were able to provide many contributions to scholarships and other awards to encour- age individuals to pursue careers within the Transportation Engineering field. On March 17, 2005 we sponsored an award for the “Most Outstanding Exhibit in Transportation Engineering” at the 2005 Salt Lake Valley Regional Science and Engineering Fair for Middle School and High School students. We were able to provide $500 in cash awards along with the Traffic Engineering Handbook, an ITE publication, to the winners. The Utah Chapter is a part of the In- termountain Section of ITE. At the an- nual section meeting held each May in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, we were able to contribute $1500 to their scholarship pro- gram. By far the largest contribution of the chapters associated with the Inter- mountain Section. We will continue holding our regular monthly meetings on the 3 rd Wednesday of every month at the Golden Corral located at 700 East and 7200 South in Midvale. These modules, distributed on CD, in- clude presentations, instructor notes and a student reference manual to help train individuals on various Traffic and Transportation topics. These courses can be used to fulfill continuing edu- cation units (CEU) and professional development hours (PDH) that are required to renew your professional engineering licensing in Utah and many other states. We continue to hold our monthly meetings with an attendance aver- aging around 60 individuals. Pre- sentations were made on various topics ranging from transportation project
