UTAH ENGINEERS COUNCIL JOURNAL 45 The American Council of Engineering Companies of Utah’s Engineering Excellence Awards program is an annual design competition recognizing engineering achievements that demonstrate the highest degree of merit and ingenuity. Entries are rated on the basis of unique- ness and originality, technical value to the engineering profession, social and economic considerations, complexity and how successfully the project meets the need of the client. Designs are entered in one of ten project categories: Studies, research and consulting engineering services, building support systems, structural systems, surveying and mapping, environmental, water and wastewater, water resources, transportation, special projects and small projects.
