21 semester of 2011. He chose to pursue a Masters of Engineering in Arctic Engineering through the University of Alaska, Anchor- age. Archi has completed 27/30 Credits with a GPA of 3.25. Archi completed his Capstone project this past semester and is currently in the process of getting it published through the UAA library. Lt Archibald’s paper titled Frost Heave Susceptibility on Highway 39 Between Valley Drive To The Pineview Reservoir In Utah included research and soil samples to determine if the soil was in fact sus- ceptible to frost heave. SEAU: JASON LOVE Company Employed: BHB Consulting Engi- neers, South Salt Lake City, Ut. BS, Civil Engineering, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Ut. MS, Civil Engineering, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Ut. Jayson started at BHB in 2012 and quickly proved to be a talent among his peers. Al- though he only has two years of experience, his knowledge and skill level is that of an en- gineer with three times as much experience. Jayson has excelled at school and has also become one of BHB’s most dedicated young engineers. He learns quickly with little to no supervision or help, and he is a competent and confident engineer. Jayson served as the project engineer on notable projects such as Dugway High School, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Meridian Temple and Price Driver’s License Division. SWE: RACHEL OBERG Company Employed: Merit Medical Systems, Inc., South Jordan, UT BS, Chemical Engineering, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Ut. While a student at the University of Utah she served as the Chemical Engineering Liaison to the SWE student section.. Upon receiving her engineering degree in 2012, she has been a valuable member of SWE, serving both as a volunteer for several K-12 outreach events and as our Section Treasurer. At the national level, Rachel has served on the Program Development Grants Committee which awards monies to sections for delivering unique and substan- tive programs to our members. She recently attended the National SWE Conference in Los Angeles (with over 10,000 attendees) where she served as a moderator for two industry panels: “The Future of Energy” and “Global Diversity in STEM.” At Merit Medical Systems, Rachel is employed as a Research and Development Engineer with two patent applications to her credit. Congratulations to the UEC’S 2015 Scholarship Winners! PARKER BASSET OF USU - UTAH STATE UNIVERSITY Parker is currently a junior at USU majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He currently lives in Logan. He says he chose the engineering major because he likes making plans and see- ing them through. He is the USU Engineering Ambassador. His engineering internships have taught him that safety comes first over dead- lines and costs. ROSE BLOMQUIST OF WSU – WEBER STATE UNIVERSITY Rose is currently a junior at WSU majoring in Electronics Engineering. She is currently interning with NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center at Edwards AFB. She hopes to one day become a full time employee with NASA and pursue a graduate degree. ANDY GILBERT OF THE U OF U – UNIVER- SITY OF UTAH Andy is currently a junior at the U of U major- ing in Electrical and Computing Engineering. He currently lives in Salt Lake City. He says he chose the engineering major because his Grandfather is an engineer and growing up he especially enjoyed the way he challenged him to think and figure things out. Aside from technical skills, he believes he has developed the ability to work effectively both as an indi- vidual and part of a team. CHLOE ROEDEL OF BYU - BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY Chloe is currently a junior at BYU also major- ing in Electrical and Computing Engineering. She currently lives in Provo. She says she chose the engineering major because how quickly she became enthralled with analog circuitry. She found the interaction between a sequence of components to create an aston- ishing number of everyday devices absolutely riveting! This scholarship is offered by the Utah Engineers Council to an outstanding junior engineering student.
