Jeffrey is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering at Brigham Young University. He has been the student research manager in the mechanical engineering department at Lockheed Martin Space Systems, a software trainer at the BYU library, a design engineer for UADIT and a summer intern for Lockheed Martin Human Immersive Laboratory. He has participated in Engineering and Global Leadership Study Abroad in Europe and received high honors in the Intro to Entrepreneurship Engineering Global Leadership class. He also received the Weidman Global Scholarship and Eagle Scout Award. His parents’ taught him, “You can’t go wrong with engineering, the most de- manding road. If you survive it, you can do anything.” Student Name: CRAIG MAUGHAN Objective: BSECE Institution: Brigham Young University Name of Scholarship: Utah Engineers Council Scholarship Sponsor: Midgley-Huber, Inc. Craig is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in electrical and computer engineering at Brigham Young University. He has performed research at the BYU Integrated Microfab- rication Lab and has been an intern for Schmeiser, Olsen and Watts LLP, an intellectual property patent firm. Craig received the National Merit Scholarship and took first place in the BYU First Year Writing Contest. He was the 2016 Tau Beta Pi Scholar and was also involved as the marketing chair and historian. In 2012, he was the finalist in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh, PA and the New York Delegate at National Youth Science Camp. Craig has served in a variety of capacities such as BYU Y-Serve peer tutoring, BYU Engi- neering and Technology Leadership Council and El Kappa Nu IEEE Honor Society. He speaks fluent Portuguese and is knowledgeable in Spanish. Student Name: JOSHUA McCLELLAN Objective: BSEE Institution: Brigham Young University Name of Scholarship: Utah Engineers Council Scholarship Sponsor: ACEC of Utah Joshua is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering at Brigham Young University. He has been a research assistant for Microelectronics and also Robotic Swarms. He currently volunteers in the Tissue Engineering Lab as an expert in electronic systems. Joshua co-authored a research paper submitted to the Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology. He has been on the College of Engineering Dean’s list three times and received his Eagle Scout award. He volunteered in Italy for two years and speaks fluent Italian. Student Name: DANIEL ULRICH Objective: BSEng Institution: Southern Utah University Name of Scholarship: Utah Engineers Council Scholarship Sponsor: ASPE Intermountain Chapter Daniel is pursuing a BS in engineering at Southern Utah University. He is the President and cofounder of Engineers Without Borders USA SUU Chapter and the design team lead for SUU’s Rocket Club. Daniel is also the recipient of the 2015 Southern Utah University Outstanding Engineer- ing Student Award. He has worked as an SUU Engineering Tutor/ Grader, an engineering Intern for the US Forest Service and a wilderness Guide. Daniel has volunteered for the Emergency Response Team (ERT) Field and Operations Coordinators, St. Louis, MO and for AmeriCorps MCCC, building homes in Louisiana, gutted by the flooding result- ing from Hurricane Katrina. He is noted as an exceptional student with a strong work ethic and leadership skills.
