22 FRESH FACE IN ENGINEERING NOMINEE Ashley MacMillan The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has nomi- nated Ashley MacMillan, a licensed professional engineer at Geocomp Corporation, for Utah’s Fresh Face in Engi- neering. Ashley is a co-author on George Koerner’s new textbook Geotextiles: From Design to Applications which was published in 2016. She also has papers published on Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil – Integrated Bridge System Instrumentation and Performance Monitoring and present- ed this work at GeoAmericas 2016 conference in April in Miami, FL as well as at Geotechnical Frontiers in Orlando in March 2017. Ashley is President of the ASCE Young Mem- bers Forum and Vice-President of Women’s Transportation Seminar. She has been a masterful scholarship fund-raiser. FRESH FACE IN ENGINEERING NOMINEE David Bassett The Utah Chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engi- neers (ITE) has nominated David Bassett, an engineer at Avenue Consultants, as Utah’s Fresh Face in Engineering. The President of Avenue Consultants, Mel Bodily, said: “David is exceptionally well-rounded and with significant depth of knowledge not only in transportation planning and traffic engineering, but also in client management, communications, computer programing, databases, me- chanical engineering, process engineering, land-use and urban planning, and academic research. “His specialties are speed changes and speed hotspots on I-15 and crash safety. David is named on 13 patents. FRESH FACE IN ENGINEERING NOMINEE David Wayne Griffin II The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has nominated David Wayne Griffin II, a licensed architect at the Arch/Nexus Company and a BEMP, Building Energy Modeling Profes- sional Certification from ASHRAE, for Utah’s Fresh Face in Engineering for 2017. David is a facilitator for the Great Basin Collaborative, where he educates the public and professionals about the importance of sustainable de- sign practices with an emphasis on energy conservation and efficiency. David also chairs the Board of Governor’s research promotion committee and is a guest lecturer at U of U and ASU. FRESH FACE IN ENGINEERING NOMINEE Scott Stebbins The Utah Section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) has nominated Scott Stebbins as Utah’s Fresh Face in Engineering for 2017. After nearly five years in the United States Air Force, Mr. Scott Stebbins earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the U of U in 2013 and an MS in Mechanical Engineering 2016. Mr. Steb- bins is now the Senior Mechanical Engineer at BAE Systems supporting the USAF on test and evaluation of large missile systems. He also has experience performing finite element modeling and classical stress analysis for supersonic jets.
