53 engineering community. Our mem- bership resides in Northern Utah: Salt Lake City, Provo, Ogden, Layton, and points in between. We named the chapter “Wasatch” to identify with our region but not to convey boundaries on membership. We invite all mem- bers and non-members to chapter activities. We hold regular chapter events—al- ways on the second Thursdays of the month. We feature engaging educa- tional sessions and lively social events. In addition, we partner with several local organizations including the Utah Engineers Council (UEC), AIAA, and Weber State University. For example, we collaborated with AIAA to host the first August is for Aerospace event on Thursday, August 31st, at the Roosters Brewing Company and Restaurant in Layton. Local civic, academic, industry, and government leaders participated in the joint event. The event focused on recruiting and retaining a skilled workforce, particu- larly for the ICBM programs. Guests of honor included state senators, officials from Weber State University, and lead- ers at Hill Air Force Base. Members of our chapter work at many local companies: • BAE Systems • Brigham Young University • General Dynamics • General Electric • Hill Air Force Base • KIHOMAC • Kimberly Clark • L-3 Communications • Lockheed Martin • Northrop Grumman • Orbital ATK • Rockwell Collins • Siemens • Utah State University The INCOSE Wasatch chapter fosters a world-class systems engineering environment for its current and future membership. We provide value to our members by providing relevant systems engineering presentations, networking events, and opportunities to develop leadership through local, national, or international INCOSE roles. We believe that systems engineering principles and practices offer the best solution for Utah companies and organizations competing in today’s global marketplace; and we, furthermore, assert that the proper application of systems engineering can contribute to the overall betterment of the social, economic, and environmental conditions of our area. Whether your goal is to improve cost, quality, or schedule performance—whether in industry, government, or educa- tion—we believe that systems engineering provides the most viable, structured approach for doing so.
